Your pool as a visual highlight

What distinguishes mosaic tiles for permanently wet areas from other tiles is their extremely high level of wear and tear. Continuous moisture, temperature fluctuations outdoors due to changing weather conditions, water pressure, and increased exposure to chemical additives such as chlorine and aggressive cleaning agents require special material properties for use in permanently wet areas.

Our swimming pool collection therefore has the following features:

- Robust
- Extremely easy to care for and hygienic
- Abrasion class 4 (except transparent glass mosaic)
- Suitable for indoor and outdoor use
- Suitable for walls and floors
- Slip-resistant versions available upon request

Paper-bonded on the front - Dot Joint & mesh-bonded depending on the product

To ensure you enjoy your results for a long time, it is essential to follow the installation instructions and use the appropriate adhesive for swimming pool mosaics and all other mosaic tiles in underwater areas. For underwater areas, we generally recommend using paper bonding on the front for mosaics up to 20x20 mm. Permanent, secure adhesion of your mosaic tiles is only guaranteed up to 20x20 mm. Bonding swimming pool mosaics with paper on the front is the original method. Unlike back bonding with a mesh, the paper is on the surface of the pool mosaic tiles. Think of the functionality of paper bonding as similar to a large postage stamp. After laying the swimming pool mosaic, simply remove the paper from the sheet by moistening the surface. The film can be easily removed after installation.

Dangers and disadvantages of back bonding with a mesh for mosaics up to 20x20 mm in pools and permanently wet areas:

Proven to reduce adhesion by up to 50 percent due to the mesh on the back of the mosaic mat. Mosaic tiles are likely to peel off after one to two years.
Glass mosaic tiles are often attached to the mesh with additional water-soluble adhesive, which prevents 100% adhesion to the tile adhesive.
Transparent mosaics may allow the mesh on the back to show through.
All other mosaic sizes from 23x23 mm can also be installed underwater using dot joints or with the mesh glued to the back. This requires that the mosaic manufacturer has approved the item for permanently wet/underwater use and that epoxy resin adhesive and grout are used in all cases (example: Mapei Kerapoxy).
